Registering your Children in School in Ontario

Date: Thursday, August 6th, 2026 Time: 12 pm – 1 pm Location: The Zoom meeting link will be shared with you via email prior to the session start time. Are you relocating to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to work at U of T with a school-aged child (children normally begin school in the calendar year they turn 4)? If so, this session is for you!  Join us for an overview and Question and Answer session regarding procedures and necessary documentation for enrolling your child in a school in Toronto, focusing on the TDSB and Peel School Boards.  For newcomers, registration for school typically takes place at the end of August/beginning of September. Normally, in order to register for a school, you will need a home address. Welcome to the University of Toronto!

The Faculty Relocation Service assists prospective and recently appointed tenure and tenure-stream faculty members, continuing teaching stream faculty members, and permanent-status stream librarians outside the Great Toronto Area with most aspects of relocating to Toronto and the surrounding areas. Consultations are free and confidential. We aim to ensure your transition to life as part of the University of Toronto is as comfortable as possible. We meet with faculty members to discuss the following:
    • housing, real estate, mortgages, moving and banking
    • supports available for partner job searches
    • parental leave policies and benefits, child care, and schools
    • supports available for caring for family members, including older family members
    • community facilities and services on and off campus
    • general orientation to Toronto and the University
    • communities within the University and/or within the GTA including ethnocultural, faith, and 2SLGBTQ+
Benefit plan consultations can be arranged with your Divisional Human Resources Office. Through the Family Care Office, the University of Toronto offers programs to assist faculty members, staff, and students in balancing their family and professional lives. These programs include workshops, support groups and consultations.
